The Americans nearly suffered elimination on Sunday against Italy in the group stage. Trailing by one point late in the match, they ultimately secured a narrow victory (55-52). This win allows them to continue their unbeaten streak at the World Cup since 2006 and advance to the quarterfinals. The United States thus avoid facing France in the knockout stage until a potential final.
