Botafogo changes coach before 2026 World Cup
Brazilian club sacks Franclim Carvalho after a string of setbacks, three years before the American World Cup.

Franclim Carvalho is no longer Botafogo's manager. The 39-year-old Portuguese coach was dismissed on Tuesday following a disappointing run marked by a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Cienciano in Peru in the Copa Sudamericana. Rodrigo Bellão, the U20 team's coach, replaces him temporarily. Botafogo, a talent pipeline for the Brazilian national team, must stabilize its project before the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
