With an annual salary of $28.3 million, the Inter Miami star exceeds the payroll of nearly all teams in the American league.

MLS released its players' payroll records. Lionel Messi dominates the ranking by far with $28.3 million per year, exceeding the payroll of practically all clubs in the league. Only Los Angeles FC spends more on its roster than Inter Miami with its number 10. Son Heung-min (LAFC) comes in second with $11.2 million, three times less than Messi. This official salary does not include additional sponsorship contracts.
