Vasco da Gama escapes the Brasileirão relegation zone for the first time since May, finishing matchday 28 in 16th place with 31 points. The Rio club had sunk into the Z-4 at matchday 18, just before the international break for the 2026 World Cup. A 5-0 victory against Coritiba on Saturday allowed Pedro Emanuel's team to string together two consecutive wins and regain breathing room. Vasco will next face Botafogo on October 7 for matchday 29.
