Infantino abandons World Cup sales project

Gianni Infantino announced on Saturday the withdrawal of the project for direct monetization of the 2026 World Cup by external investors. This initiative, launched to generate additional revenue, provoked massive criticism within world football. Fifa thus abandons the concept of a commercial company dedicated to World Cup rights. The 2026 tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico therefore retains its traditional commercialization model.
