Patrick Vieira, a legend of French football and native of Senegal, has been appointed coach of the Senegalese federation. He succeeds Pape Thiaw, who was dismissed following the team's elimination at the gates of the round of 16 at the last World Cup. The federation presents this appointment as a strategic choice to raise the technical level of the team. Vieira must prepare the Lions of the Teranga to face the North American competition in 2026.
